EMI Japan recently released an all instrumental live trio recording (with Marc Johnson and Joey Baron) It is the first time I release a live cd ….. The cd is called “Eliane Elias Plays Live” …. recorded live in Amsterdam. i just recorded a cd with Marc Johnson, a follow up to his ECM recording “Shades of Jade”. We have not mixed the cd yet, but we will keep you posted. The cd features all original material written by Marc and myself and we are super excited about it.
“Bossa Nova Stories” was released in the USA in 2009 and we have been performing music from this cd, combined with some from Dreamer and some music from Jobim as well … and we are having a good time. Right now I am working on new material for the live concerts and writing for the next cd.
I am also excited for my daughter, Amanda Brecker whose second cd, “Brazilian Passion”, was released on BIRDS Records in the summer of 2009. It features some great originals and covers… and great singing and grooves. Brazilian Passion received the “Gold Disc Award” by Swing Journal, June 2009. And Amanda is currently working on a new project as well.
Amanda’s debut cd “Here I Am” received the Gold Disc Award in Japan and it was the #1 Jazz Vocal cd is sales in Japan in July-August 2008. Amanda won the following awards in Japan: “Best New Talent Award 2008″ by Swing Journal, “New Star International Prize” by ADLIB Awards 2008, and “2008 New Star Award” by Swing Journal, Japan.
